In the Welding program at Maricopa Skill Center, you will gain a well-rounded, basic welding foundation and be prepared for entry-level employment as a Welder. Students have the opportunity to apply for the American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 certification test in Structural Plate or Pipe Welding.
COMBINATION WELDER - 4 PROCESS CERTIFICATE The Combination Welder – 4 Process certificate program is designed for students seeking competency in 4 welding processes: ARC, MIG, Flux-Core, and TIG. Individuals with knowledge in several processes find greater workforce opportunities, including opening up job opportunities working with the trades unions. See ARC Welder, MIG Welder, Flux-Core Welder, and TIG Welder for an understanding of the work each welder of these processes performs. Every student performs the AWS D17.1 practical skills test for sheet material, and the AWS D1.1 practical skill tests for plates. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1744
COMBINATION WELDER - 3 PROCESS w/INTRO TO PIPE WELDING CERTIFICATE The Combination Welder – 3 with Pipe Welding Process certificate program is designed for students seeking competency in 3 welding processes: ARC, MIG, Flux-Core, and introductory Pipe Welding. Individuals skilled in pipe welding weld assemblies involving processed piping systems, such as oil, water, natural gas, chemical, and dairy and food product pipelines. See individual welding process descriptions for a more detailed description of ARC, MIG, and Flux-Core welding processes. Individuals with knowledge in several processes find greater workforce opportunities, including opening up job opportunities working with the trades unions. Every student performs the AWS D1.1 practical skills test for plates and work towards the ASME IX practical skills test for pipe. Students seeking their AWS and/or ASME credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1743

COMBINATION WELDER - 2 PROCESS CERTIFICATE The Combination Welder - 2 is designed for students seeking to develop competency in two welding processes from the follow list: ARC, MIG, TIG, and Flux-core. The processes you choose will influence the type of materials you will use, and the types of welding work you attain. See individual welding process descriptions for a more detailed description of ARC, MIG, TIG, and Flux-Core welding processes. Individuals with knowledge in several processes find greater workforce opportunities, including opening up job opportunities working with the trades unions. Every student performs the AWS practical skills tests. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. The specific AWS exams depend on the processes selected. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1741
TIG WELDER / TIG FINGERTIP WELDER CERTIFICATE TIG Welders utilize the TIG welding process to fit and tack assemblies. These workers weld products made of alloys, like aluminum and stainless steel. These workers weld products such as radiators, custom automotive parts and assemblies, roll-cages, suspension components, and frames. Every student performs the AWS D17.1 practical skills test for sheet material. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. Graduates of this program typically find work in small or large shops, and manufacturing facilities in a variety of industries. Some workers may find employment in the marine and watercraft industries. Experienced TIG welders can find work in the aerospace/aircraft industry. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1747
ARC WELDER CERTIFICATE As an ARC Welder, you will apply the ARC welding process as you fit and tack metal on construction equipment, pipe systems, automobiles, ships, buildings and bridges. Graduates of this program will be competent in the ARC welding process. Every student performs the AWS D1.1 practical skills test for plate. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. Graduates of this program typically find work in small or large shops, and construction sites in a variety of industries. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1740
FLUX-CORE WELDER CERTIFICATE As a Flux-Core Welder, you will apply the Flux-Core welding process as you fit and tack assemblies including construction equipment, pipe systems, ships, buildings and bridges, using heavier materials. Graduates will be confident in the operation of the Flux-Core welding process. Every student performs the AWS D1.1 practical skills test for plate. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. Graduates of this program typically find work in small or large shops, and construction sites in a variety of industries. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1745
MIG WELDER CERTIFICATE MIG Welders utilize the MIG welding process to fit and tack assemblies. These workers weld products including automotive equipment, ornamental gates and fences, and light manufacturing assemblies such as shelving, brackets, stands, and patio furniture—pretty much any application using thinner and lighter materials in its construction. Every student performs the AWS D1.1 practical skills test for plate. Students seeking their AWS credentials will need to pay additional fees to cover the cost of their qualification exams. Graduates of this program typically find work in small or large shops, and manufacturing facilities in a variety of industries. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1746
