PRACTICAL NURSING CERTIFICATELicensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) are an integral part of the healthcare team, providing patient care and emotional support for people in need. LPNs work under the direction of Registered Nurses (RNs) to administer medication and perform treatments. Being an LPN requires a lot of compassion, as it will be your responsibility to provide basic bedside care for patients who are in need of nursing care. The Practical Nursing Program at the Maricopa Skill Center takes approximately 14 months to complete and combines nursing theory lectures with planned patient care learning experiences in hospitals, nursing homes and health care agencies, providing students with the theory and skills required to practice as a practical nurse in acute care, extended care, as well as other areas of nursing. At the midpoint of Block B, the student may qualify to apply for a waiver to take the Certified Nurse Assistant examination and be able to work as a CNA as they complete their program of study. Graduates become eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX-PN) to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN) at the successful completion of the program. Employment is found in hospitals, clinics, home care, extended care facilities and nursing homes. CERTIFICATE NUMBER: 1500
