The Ophthalmic Assistant Program is the initial education program for learning and understanding the core level of eye care in the clinical / office settings. The program includes: history taking and medications, anatomy and physiology of the eye and related body systems, basic eye testing/measurements, testing and working with glasses, general medical knowledge, and instrument care and maintenance. This course is an entry level start in becoming a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA). The Ophthalmic Assistant program is conditionally credentialed as a certified program by American Academy of Ophthalmology.
